It was interesting to say the least.

Before leaving our Bible studies were going well for the summer. Juanita is finishing up on her Hebrews study and I am prepared to do a study on the fruit of the Spirit, following up my study in Galatians awhile back. I have also been asked by some of the youth to go through the core doctrines because they are trying to witness to JW’s and Mormons. So I may be teaching the material from my book “Discernment Toolkit”. Angela Leuice has used that book as a basis for her “Berean class” in their church for some time. I was blessed to hear that it has been a help and inspiration to many there. But I will refer to that later.

Now for the trip … I was invited by Learn To Discern Ministries in Mission, Canada to speak at a conference there on the subject of my book “Idolatry In Their Hearts” which is about the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People movement. This movement is worldwide and has also become an influence in the Pacific islands churches due to it’s leadership such as Daniel Kikawa from Hawaii and Richard Twiss, an American Indian or “First Nations” person as they like to be called, and spread by YWAM. The other speakers were Caryl Matriciana of Caryl Productions who has a new video on the New Age and the Emerging Church called “Wide Is The Gate”, available soon on her site here. She also wrote books with two of the other speakers there, namely the book by her and Warren Smith called “The Light That Was Dark” and a few books with Roger Oakland of Understanding the Times Ministry called “The Evolution Conspiracy”. Ray Yungen, author of “A Time of Departing” and also a commentator on a video production I was also involved with called “The Emerging Church”. You can get that video, which is free, through my site here. The conference was a great success in terms of attendance and comments by many who attended. But let me backtrack for a moment to let you know the spiritual warfare we all have to endure to get the information out on the various subjects such as Evolution, Dominionism, New Age, Emerging Church, WCGIP, etc. By the way, the conference was taped so that DVD will be available on the Learn To Discern web site when it is finished editing. That web site is here.

I became aware that there were people praying against our conference, in particular adherents of the New Apostolic Reformation because Chuck Pierce, the new leader of the NAR as C. Peter Wagner is (finally) retiring, put out an edict on ElijahList to pray against us. This was due to Mike Oppenheimer releasing his video on Anna Mendez Ferrel available here, and I am pretty sure the ads on my site about the LTD Conference, etc. So I was expecting the enemy to try to do some damage. But I know from long experience that for those of us who trust the Lord Jesus Christ, nothing will stop His agenda for getting the truth out on false teachers and false religion.

On my plane ride from HI to SF is where I began to have trouble in one eye. It was very red, was very light sensitive, and there was a painful headache around the sinuses of my eye. When I first got on I was helping a woman get her suitcase in the overhead rack and it would not fit so I moved it to another one. In doing so a small bag, kind of like an architect’s bag, fell on the chair back and head of a lady. She immediately went into hysterics about how it had hurt her neck. The stewardess then spent 10 minutes, which made us all late in departing, trying to convince the lady to get off the plane and seek medical attention and that she would be put on another flight. But she would not do it yet kept arguing with the stewardess. Come to find out she was also sitting in the wrong seat and would not change with the lady whose seat it was. The flight was completely full. She finally moved just as they were taking off and they brought her a bag of ice. Meanwhile everyone around her was very angry about the situation and they all told the stewardess that the lady could not possibly be hurt and commended the stewardess on her handling of this wacky individual. Meanwhile I was thinking she might try to come after me and to sue me. Fortunately, apparently, she did not notice who dumped the bag on her head so she was blaming the airline. I was praying the whole time, sensing that the spiritual warfare part of my journey was just beginning to unfold. The lady did not follow instructions on the plane, like putting your tray table up and seat forward a number of times. When we arrived in San Francisco, however, she jumped up and walked briskly off the plane in no apparent pain at all. So, as suspected, it was all a big act. I started praying from that point on for God's protection.

I got up the next morning in my hotel room with a splitting headache and a very red eye. I had to get up at 3:30 am to make the first airport shuttle. I got on the Air Canada plane and they told us we had to taxi all the way around SF airport, which took about 15 minutes. Meanwhile the vents in the airplane were not shut off to outside air and I thought we were all going to die from the carbon monoxide we were breathing. There was a lady on this flight who was talking to her kids, who were doing everything they could get away with, non-stop the whole flight, which fortunately lasted only 2 hours. By the time I got to Vancouver I was about ready to keel over. The car ride was another 2 hours to Mission. I got to my room and went to bed and fortunately I was not scheduled to speak till after noon that day, but we did have to set up my table in the morning. I was not able to attend hardly any sessions that day. After my session I asked if Eileen could take me to a walk-in clinic. So I went to the clinic and saw a doctor who diagnosed me with conjuntivitus (pink eye) and prescribed me medicine, all of which cost me $100.

Let me backtrack again ... Others at the conference had also had physical problems. Roger Oakland had fallen down and hit the back of his head, which split the back of his skull open, and had to have 15 stitches prior to the conference, but was fortunately able to come after that healed up, etc. He was able to come to the conference, the first he has done in a number of years, because also has other medical problems he has had to deal with for some time. He was dealing with some of those issues during the conference but was able to rest also. Warren Smith almost did not make the conference because he was very ill, but was able to attend at the last minute. Ray Yungen almost did not make it past the Canadian border, which took a long time to straighten out. I was just able to read my notes for the first session.

The next day my eyes were very blurry from the medication. I noticed they had a printer in the lobby of the hotel, and the Lord gave me the idea to print out my second message in 18pt. I got up to do my last message after dinner. A longtime friend of mine from the Marshall Islands in Micronesia was there, Penny and her husband. As I pulled out my glasses before I launched into my presentation, one lens popped out of one side and slid under the podium where I could not see to find it. Then the banging on the wall of the next conference room and kitchen began. I decided to soldier through the noise, even though some attendees were distracted. When I started with my notes I asked someone to come up and find my lens and fix my glasses. A volunteer who came and helped us with running sound and PowerPoints helped me and I was happy to get those glasses back. But when I put them on I could barely read the 18pt text. I am not complaining, just explaining.

However, despite these distractions the conference went very well, despite numerous spiritual warfare issues, and many were blessed.

Eileen Macdonald of Learn To Discern Ministries had graciously allowed me to fly out through San Fran, CA so that I could visit my daughter and sister there and speak at my brother-in-law’s church twice. I was able to get enough money to have Rose meet me there after he school year concluded. The only problem is that where my daughter and sister are living are 3 hours driving apart and 3 hours from SF. Backtracking again …

I had to get up again at 3:30 am to be taken to Vancouver. I felt sorry for all the early morning runs I subjected others to on this trip but everyone was very kind and we had good talks on the way. While waiting for the flight I noticed this (Canadian) Indian guy and got a weird feeling about him. Well, guess who I was seated next to? He was reading a book on shamanism and moving his hands around in the air trying to do the things he was reading about. I was just praying the whole time that this would have no effect on all of us and that the plane would not crash or something. I got out my Kindle hoping I could read my Bible and maybe start up a conversation, but when I got out my Kindle, that I had just recharged the night before, it was dead. Meanwhile there were two “Valley girls” behind us who talked non-stop the whole flight in loud voices. “Like, OMG, like I’m all like” … etc. I noticed the shaman put on headphones to drown out the noise. I did the same. That’s about all we had in common. After waiting in a queue to land we finally landed.

Our visit with our daughter Cassie and her husband, Mike, were fun and helpful. Mike drove me a couple of hours to the Kaiser hospital in Santa Rosa where the optometrist told me I had iritis instead of pink eye and prescribed steroid drops. Cassie was able to travel with us to Camino when I was scheduled to speak in the Berean class there and it was reassuring to see her participate. She obviously still retains a lot of what I taught her on the subject of discernment. Pray that this will not just be head knowledge but applied in their lives. We also had a great time with Steve and Angela Leuice and were able to visit with Carissa, who flew out to visit a friend in Oakland, where we got the whole family together (sans Josiah who stayed in HI). I spoke again the next Sunday on Phil. 3:10-21 on finishing the race before I flew back and in the Berean class we had a good discussion on how to practically use the discernment issues we have learned to help the church and individuals. Steve drove me to the airport, getting up at (you guessed it) 3:30 am to leave.

I got Rose checked in at 7 am and then made my way to another terminal to await my flight via LAX to HI. My plane ended up being 2 hours late in SF and I had to run in LAX to catch my plane. I did not think I would make it but got there just before they closed the doors and was the last one on. I noticed that a teenage boy was seated in my seat next to a young girl. When I told him it was my seat he begrudgingly moved. For the next 5.5 hours, for at least half the time, I discovered I was in the middle of a group of high school seniors who were coming back to HI after their senior trip to SF. They yelled and screamed and danced around. Toward the end they were all singing to the same audio channel and doing chants. The girl next to me was jerking around for hours to the music, and yelling back to the boy whose seat I had unfortunately insisted on taking. She just about blew out my right ear a few times. During this show the airline people did nothing to quiet them down and there was no indication that they realized there was anyone else on board the aircraft. This was very stressful for everyone else. Getting off the plane they came right with me and shouted the whole time on the WikiWiki bus to the baggage claim. I cannot fully communicate the sense of relief I had when they were finally out of earshot. That concludes the annoying spiritual warfare part of this movie.

I am thankful to the Lord and those who were praying for their prayers. Our Lord is greater than any device the enemy can throw at us. Sometimes we just have to hang on during the annoyances of the enemy. My eye finally got fully better one day before I left SF. I still don’t know what caused it and I have had this condition twice in the last few months so I would appreciate your prayers.

Also please continue to pray for our Bible study folks that they would not just be hearers of the Word, but doers also. Pray for our finances. Pray for Juanita that the Lord will continue to give her strength to continue this ministry with us.

In His Love,

Sandy

March 2011 Report

Dear All,

I am thankful for many things these days. I want to thank you for your prayers and emails of concern over recent events related to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I am thankful that the Hawaiian Islands suffered less than expected damage, except to boats that did not leave the harbors, with no loss of life. We need to continue to pray for missionaries, fellow brother in the Lord, and the Japanese people as they go through this difficult time. As you are well aware these types of events, foretold in Scripture, are on the increase.

Matt. 24:4-8 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no-one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth-pains.

The incidences of all that Jesus told us about are increasing in severity and frequency, so we can know by the signs of the times that the Tribulation, the Antichrist and false prophet, and finally the return of Jesus Christ are at hand. No one can know the day or hour of Christ’s return (Mark 13:32), but we can and should know the signs of the times (Matt. 16:3). That should cause us to be even more diligent as the time draws near (Is. 51:5). This is what we are doing in Hawaii and Micronesia. We continue to prepare people for ministry, to cope with the issues of life, to grow in spiritual maturity, and to take every opportunity to help others.

I am also thankful that our debt at the mission has finally been paid down and we are in the black! Thank you for your prayers and financial help to us. We still need your continued prayer and support, but I just want to thank you all again. I am thankful for your prayers also for our immediate family (including Josiah who is back home with us in HI again) and our extended family in the mainland. We have many continued opportunities for ministry, but not without the incessant attacks of the enemy. But we have not been given a spirit of fear but one of Sonship (Romans 8:15), therefore we rejoice in the knowledge of the power and authority He gives us to overcome the enemy through our faith (1 John 5:3-4) and in the hope of His coming Kingdom on earth (Matthew 6:10).

Mom is teaching through Hebrews again at present. I intend to teach on the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians following, and then likely on the core doctrines after Juanita’s next course. I will be speaking at the end of March twice in a local church on signs of the end times in the world and in the Church. I will also be a speaker at the Learn to Discern Conference in Vancouver, BC in May and will be able to drop by and visit members of my family in California, as well as speak at Steve Leuice’s church. Juanita continues a Bible study she is conducting with some Marshallese ladies in the Marshall Islands via conference call. Thank you for your prayers for our Bible study groups that the Lord will teach them and use them as agents of change in their national churches.

In His hand,

We have had a very good year in many ways. Even though our stipend from the mission had to decrease in order to pay down our debt there, our support level has remained strong. I am also very thankful for many friends who had stepped up and filled the gap of support for us with personal gifts. The attendance at our Bible studies has been good and we have added a number of new people and youth, as well as seen others move back to Micronesia or the mainland for various reasons. We continue to counsel people and answer questions from a Biblical perspective. Though we continue to see an influx into the Micronesian churches of false teachers and materials, etc. the Lord has used us to help. We continue to help people become more discerning and teach them how to protect their churches. Two cases come to mind. A few weeks ago we were informed that the Moonie school on the Big Island, to which a number of Micronesian students had been given free scholarships and some Micronesians were involved in the administration, has closed down. The article I wrote on my web site and also sent out as a special edition to the Pacific Waves Newsletter (which I am no longer financially able to produce on a regular basis) was posted on the High School of the Pacific’s (the Moonie school) web site. The Chuukese believe that that article had, at least in part, the effect of getting the school closed down. I had written that Sun Myung Moon had visited the school and claimed that he had gone to hell and taken a person from there into heaven. One of the administrators of the school, who is Chuukese, quit the school after hearing the information we presented as well as Moon’s claim. Please continue to pray for this situation as some of the Micronesian students have been transferred to one of Moon’s schools in Korea. We were also able to inform a number of Chuukese about a man who came to HI allegedly to do a “deliverance” ministry while practicing “slain in the spirit” and teaching false teachings. Some Chuukese pastors invited him here. A number of our Bible study people came to us with their concerns over what was happening, including their observation of one woman who claimed to be healed but after she went home was still having the same problems. She called this Ethiopian man to come to her house and he came and began to try to cast out a demon from her. While he was doing that the people who came with him became demonized. I have seen this happen, particularly with slain in the spirit tactics since it is not Biblical. We were able to get the word out, as I researched his background, which was in a church denomination full of false teaching, and I wrote an article I shared with the Bible study groups. I believe the Lord has us here not only to teach the Bible verse by verse but also help and be a resource to protect Micronesians from encroaching false teachings and movements. I am currently teaching a topical series I wrote called ”A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days” in which I deal with a number of issues of wrong thinking these days seen from a Biblical perspective. I wrote it to give people help in dealing with issues so that they could use the short synopsis, Biblical references, and further reading links to articles. Our Bible study people really use our printed materials in many ways. Mom and I have also taught through Galatians, Daniel, Titus, Philemon and other books this year. I will finish up my current series in January and February of 2011 and then Juanita will teach Hebrews. I will then likely follow that up by teaching a series I did many years ago on the fruit of the Spirit since I just taught Galatians.

A minor difficulty we have had has to do with our health. Both Juanita and I have had problems with bursitis in our shoulders the last few months. This is a condition that apparently takes a long time to heal. I have gone off my statin meds as I suspected that the lowering of one type of cholesterol was actually interfering with my ability to heal from this tendinitis. My doctor allowed me to do so for at least a time. Please pray for our healing in that area.

I have been invited to Majuro for a conference for men and youth but the man who invited me last year just passed away so I am unsure of the status of that conference which was supposed to occur in January 2011. I have been invited to speak at a conference in Vancouver, BC in May 2011. They already paid for my tickets, which will also allow me to visit my daughter and son-in-law in CA on my return flight, as well as the Leuice family. I will be speaking on Indigenous People issues at the conference in line with my book called “Idolatry In Their Hearts” and will also likely have occasion to minister in the Leuice church in CA. Please pray for these conference opportunities.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

September Update

This is just a short update to let you know what has been going on in the work of the Simpson family. Juanita has been keeping many informed monthly who financially support us. We want to thank you because your support goes to the work that Juanita and our family continue here in the islands with Micronesians. Juanita lives and works with us even though she is retired from Liebenzell Mission USA. I tend to keep people informed via my Simpson Family News blog these days as paper newsletters are prohibitive for us to produce on the tight budget we have ourselves. We are still struggling financially and appreciate all the help, prayers and support you have provided for us. If you have not subscribed to the Simpson Family News blog you can do so by clicking on the following link:

http://simpsonfamilynews.blogspot.com/

Since writing the July/August entry below in our blog I have finished my Galatians study and Juanita will be teaching Titus and Philemon. I have been invited to speak at some conferences next year contingent on whether or not my travel expenses can be provided. I am also being scheduled to teach a Bible study for 3 Wednesday nights and preach on a Sunday night at a local church. I was also recently interviewed on a national radio show, which was on the web. I am hoping to add another conference in Guam to my schedule after the first of the year. We need your prayers and financial support at this time due to all these doors the Lord has opened for me for ministry. There is a local church here looking for a pastor and I am trying to get a friend or family member into that position so that we can have one more church here on Oahu that is true to the Word of God. Pray for the church leaders in Chuuk. They continue to struggle with many problems and often seek out our advice. Pray for Juanita as she is currently doing a conference call once a week with alumni ladies in the Marshalls, on the Mainland and here in Hawaii. Pray for Carissa and Fudge, her husband, as they are struggling financially due to their apartment here in HI not selling. They are now living in Nebraska where Fudge is working in a school there. Josiah is with them. Fudge and Josiah are working for the school. Carissa got a job and starts soon at a nearby school. Praise the Lord that Cassie and Mike are working and have a place of their own now. That is an answer to prayer. Pray for the Lord’s protection for us all and for boldness to proclaim the Gospel message and stand for the Truth in love.

In His love,
Sandy Simpson & family
P.O. Along the way I was able to visit my daughter Cassie and her husband Mike when they drove up to the Leuice's house for the wedding and stayed overnight. I am happy to report that both Mike and Cassie now have jobs and are moving into their own house. Thank you for your prayers. While at Camino with Angela & Steve Leuice I was able to see their whole family who had come for the wedding. I had not met the husbands of Jessica and Kristen so that was a real treat. Kurtis was also there, having worked for a season out of Oahu, and who stayed with us briefly before going back. I was able to speak and sing in Camino Community Church where Steve Leuice pastors and also speak to their Berean class. That class has been using my book "Discernment Toolkit" and I am so happy they have a class that is dedicated to searching the Scriptures regarding issues that impact Christians in the churches. While I was there we had a lot of time to visit and do some other activities. It was a big blessing for me as I needed a break. Juanita was there also.

I then flew on the same day with Angela to Denver then up to Estes Park in CO. The YMCA of the Rockies has an excellent facility there where we had the reunion. There were over 100 people there where the focus was on the first graduating classes of Faith Academy spanning 1965-75. There were a number of staff and teachers there from that time period also and it was a joy to see them again. I was tasked with being the worship leader and also helped drive a 15 passenger van. I gave my testimony one night which the Lord had already prepared people for as the other two main speakers spoke on the topic the Lord had laid on my heart which was that of "forgiveness". Many were touched by the speakers and some issues were brought out and the process of healing begun. It was especially a great time for Angela and I to be together which has not been the case in many years. We renewed friendships and had a wonderful time of fun and fellowship. I am so grateful for many there who were encouraging to me. The organizer of the reunion, Helen, also had the alumni take up an offering for our work. She also just sent out the names and contact information for everyone there so we can keep in touch.

Now I am back in HI and ready to continue the Galatians Bible study I have been teaching. My next study will be a topical one called "A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days" taking on a number of things people believe that are not really in line with what the Bible teaches. Please continue to pray for my possible ministry trip, after the first of the year, to Majuro and possibly Guam. I will be teaching church leadership about what it means to be a good under-shepherd, and will also have an opportunity to present the Gospel to many youth. Also please be in prayer for many Micronesians here in Hawaii who are about to lose their health insurance benefits again. Some may have to return to their islands, some of which are not prepared for the medical conditions they have. For example, many are on dialysis here and would basically be going home to die because there are not enough or, in some cases, any machines available on their islands. I have written to the HI governor, Honolulu mayor and others here but this is one of the cost saving items they are apparently unwilling to negotiate. HI receives federal money to provide health insurance help to free association states in Micronesia. This is an issue that needs immediate prayer.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support. If you wish to send a gift or financially support the ministry of the Simpson family, you can send a support check to our mission here:

Liebenzell Mission USA
P.O. This has given us some breathing room financially for a couple of months. The Lord is so good and I know He will bless you for your help to us. We continue to be in need until we have paid off our debt to the mission so we would appreciate your prayers and donations. Also please pray for many from our Bible studies who have undergone serious operations and/or are bedridden. We also have a large number of youth coming to our Bible studies now and we view this as an opportunity to help them to grow spiritually. When I am transporting them in our big van they often ask really good questions and it gives me an opportunity to give them answers and advice. I am starting my Bible study in Galatians this week which will run through the summer. After that Juanita will teach Titus and Philemon. Then I plan to teach a topical series on a number of issues and questions called "A Lot O Wishful Thinking These Days". I will also be adding topics specific to island church issues like the passing around of handkerchiefs for healing in Chuukese churches and teachings of the World Christian Gathering of Indigenous Peoples who are saying that island people can worship their former "supreme beings" as God, etc. Please pray for these studies that they will be a big help to people. People from our Bible studies often pass around the notes we give them to others in the islands. Recently one of our Bible studies attendees came back from Chuuk to report that he had met a man there from another denomination who was urging him to get a book by Juanita Simpson. When he told the man that he is a regular attendee at the Simpson Bible study the man told him that he was very lucky to be able to do that. We got a big smile from this story. We would also appreciate your prayers for Rose's brother Roger. He has undergone a number of serious operations on his neck and is still in a lot of pain. He can no longer work so they have been forced to sell their home in Alaska and move in with his wife's parents in Pennsylvania. They will need help moving in August and I would like to help them but do not have the funds to fly to Alaska and drive their vehicle the 4300+ miles from there to PA. Please pray that if the Lord wants me to be able to help them that I will be able to do so. I also have a number of things in August that a pending such as a trip to the Marshalls and my 40th Faith Academy high school reunion.

2 John 1:3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson & family

We Need Your Help!

Dear Friends & Supporters,

There is nothing more difficult for me personally than to ask people for help. I was brought up in a generation that avoided asking for help almost as a matter of principle. But the Lord has taught me over the 20+ years we have been in full time mission work, and even before that back to 1962 when my family first came out to Micronesia, that sometimes we need to choke back our pride and ask when we are in need. I want to thank many of you who have supported our family and the Lord's work here in the island, in some cases, for decades. All I can do is rely on the Lord to reward you for your faithfulness in prayer and giving. With a heavy heart I want you to be aware of our circumstances at present. Our support level at the mission has been declining in recent years and because of that we have run up a deficit there. In order to pay down our debt to the mission they are now sending us $300. less each month. We were already very tight in our finances before this recent development, but now we are in a critical situation. We are down to having about one month's funds to pay our bills next month. The Lord has been providing our needs and I have been saving every extra penny. We have reduced our payments to the minimum and we, as a family, are doing everything we can to earn extra money each month. We have sold off a number of things lately and are running out of things to sell. But it is not enough. We are going to need your help again. This work has been steadily growing and people are growing in the Lord and are much more able to tackle difficult issues in their families, churches and community. We do not want to quit this work, and in fact have no idea what we would do if we did have to quit. I know these are tough economic times for everyone. I do not ask for your help lightly. But I wanted to lay out the fact that our financial situation is critical at this point. I am hoping that by the end of this year we will have paid down our debt at the mission and they will be able to resume sending us what we need to pay our bills here. I am also hoping more churches and individuals will commit to supporting us through the mission. But until that happens we are going to need some help.

Please continue to pray for the possibility of my speaking at a conference for youth and men in the Marshall islands. Please continue to pray for Mike and Cassie as they are struggling and homeless in CA right now. Pray that they can find work. It is very hard for me not to be able to help them financially but we are in no position to do so at the moment and can only pray that the Lord will provide for them. Please pray that Fudge, Carissa's husband can find full time employment here, where the jobless rate continues to rise. Thank you for praying for Juanita in her hospital visitation. Please continue to pray for Josiah who continues to struggle with home schooling. Pray that I will be able to accomplish everything the Lord sets before me, which is sometimes overwhelming.

The Lord is good and I praise Him for His provision.

Ps 106:1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures for ever.

In His love,
Sandy Simpson & family

Sign Up For This Blog!

Dear Friends,

This is an addendum to the last post I just made on our Simpson Family News blog. I just got an email from Google saying that they are not emailing those who signed up to be notified when I make a new post on our blog. I wrote to them but it seems they are having problems with their emailing lists. In view of this fact I would suggest that you sign up for this blog again. You can do that in a number of ways under the "Subscribe To" tabs to the left of this post. I was hoping to notify everyone of the changes to Google through my email but I am now restricted by my ISP from sending more than 100 emails per hour and 1000 per day. I have at least 2500+ on my friends email list and it would take me many days to email everyone. This is why I have changed my apologetics newsletter to a paid email server. You are a very real participant in this ministry through your lifting it up before the Lord. Our Bible studies continue to be packed out. Praise the Lord that a friend donated the funds we needed to put a running board on our 15 passenger van to help the many elderly disabled people I pick up. That van has been very hard for some to get into so this is a big blessing. I continue to be encouraged about the spiritual growth of many in our Bible study groups. One pastor was waiting for me to pick him up when a former deacon whom he hadn't seen for years came up and sat down with him. He poured out his heart about how sorry he was for the things he did which caused that church to tell him to step down from being a deacon. Our pastor friend used the opportunity to talk to him about repentance and forgiveness. These issues are often difficult for islanders to deal with as holding grudges is a cultural phenomenon in many islands. I was pleased to see that this pastor extended the olive branch of forgiveness and hopefully down the road this deacon will come back to church, if not in a leadership position, at least for fellowship and Christian growth. Please continue to pray for the many from our Bible studies who are struggling with health issues. Two of our pastors have had heart operations recently but both are doing much better. We have a number of alumni from our mission schools who are amputees due to complications of diabetes.

Concerning family issues, please be in prayer for Cassie and Mike. They are struggling right now without a permanent place to live and without jobs. It is hard for us as we are so far away from them and cannot help them financially due to the fact that we are still short on support. Pray that the Lord will continue to meet our financial needs as He always has. Pray for Fudge, Carissa's husband, as he has been out of work for some time and it is very hard to find a job here these days as it is in most parts of the country. Pray for them as they may have some difficult decisions to make concerning where they will be living. Pray for Josiah as he continues to struggle with school work. He is a bright young man and works for the school where Rose teaches doing maintenance and other odd jobs, but he continues to struggle with ADHD issues. Pray that the Lord will give me the opportunity to do a conference series for youth and church leaders in the Marshalls this summer. They have still not contacted me about that. I recently did the first part of a series called "A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days" at a local church here. I intend to put it on DVD when I can finish the last part of that series which is about a number of false ideas people have these days compared to what the truth of Scripture teaches. Thank you for your prayers for Juanita. Her health continues to be good and she is currently teaching in Romans. I will be following that up with a study in the book of Galatians. Rose has been busy during this spring break as they moved her classroom. She is happy with the move, however, as her new classroom has windows and is a bit larger. Continue pray for her health also as she struggles with a few issues.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas 2009 and Happy New Year
from Juanita Simpson, P.O. Box 1759, Pearl City, HI 96782

Dear Loved Ones,

I wish you not only Season’s Greetings, but God’s richest blessings, as well.
Now where shall we begin in looking back over 2009? Let’s start with………the
Joys:

1.) How thankful I am for wonderfully good health this past year, not only for myself, but for the rest of the family as well. Angela continues to have her struggles, but she has been better than some years in the past, and able to continue to do a lot of ministry.

2.) We have seen some real spiritual growth in the Bible Study attendees. Many new people have joined us from time to time.

3.) Prayers have been answered for some of our Micronesian friends who were in grave danger in 2009. Ponet was marvelously rescued from “certain death” Her cancer seems to be gone and she is back serving the Lord in the Marshalls. Jose, Lobo and Mark were all dangerously ill or oppressed by the enemy. Asher came close to dying several times, but he is alive, though still in the hospital. Glory to God and thanks for your prayers!

Sorrows:

1.) As a family we lost 3 of our loved ones in 2009: Walt, Rose’s father; Ruth, Steve’s mother; and Janet, my sister. We are thankful that Rose was able to spend 2 months with her father and Steve could be with his mother at the end..

2.) We also had to say good-by to dear friends. Rose’s elderly friend, Thomas, passed away. Sandy, Rose and Josiah visited him at home, in the hospital and the care home. I, too, miss my Micronesian friends whom I visited many times in their last illnesses: Pastor Panser, Frank, Tabita, Billy and Reid. I was asked to give the message at 3 of their funerals. What a joy to know that some of the above are safely in heaven.

Problems:

1.) I think this has been a hard year for most of us financially, and we are no exception. Things have been tight, but we are so grateful that somehow God has brought us through so far. We don’t like to think that we may have to discontinue our ministries to the Micronesians and perhaps move to a less expensive area. It is in God’s hands!

2.) We can’t operate our ministries without vehicles. My 94 Mazda is pretty well finished and we’re trying to sell it on Craig’s List. Sandy has had to do repeated repair work on the 97 Mini-van, but so far it is still running. We’re thankful that the big van is still O.K.

3.) On the recent sick list, Bila and Srue have been in and out of the hospital. They are both amputees with questions about their kidneys. Ioshimi had open heart surgery 2 weeks ago and is recuperating at home.

Blessings:

1.) There are no words to express how we feel about our very faithful supporters. Your prayers and financial support are the backbone of all that we are able to do. Someday we will praise God together for the victories He gave us in the lives of Micronesians!

2.) I had the privilege of teaching a Women’s Conference and preaching in Majuro. Their generosity made it possible, and many were blessed. Sandy has now been given the opportunity to minister in the same way to the men and youth of Majuro in July, 2010.

3.) Thomas (mentioned above) gave his 94 Toyota to Josiah before he passed away. Josiah doesn’t have a license yet, but it is helpful to Sandy when I am using the van for visiting.

What will 2010 bring? We don’t know, but God does. I love the song, “Jesus led me all the way…” The One who has led us till now will not fail us. We do know that Christmas will bring Cassie and her new husband Mike for 2 weeks of family fun with Sandy’s whole family. And we know that Angela’s son Kurt will be moving over here in January. And who knows? Maybe Jesus will come again in 2010 – but not as a baby. This time He will come as King of kings and Lord of lords. A good question for this Christmas and New Year: Are we ready and waiting?

Thanksgiving News

Dear All,

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving. Time seems to be moving so quickly this year. Christmas is almost upon us. We are thankful that our daughter Cassie and her husband Mike can come visit us for a few weeks during Christmas time. We are also looking forward to visits from a number of other people at the first of next year.

I wanted to let you know so that you can be in prayer over this opportunity. There is a very high likelihood that I will be the main speaker at at week and a half long conference in Majuro in July 2010. At first I thought this would be a men's conference but I was recently informed that it will include everyone in that denomination, including separate meetings for the youth. This is a wonderful opportunity to preach the Gospel and teach sound doctrine. Please pray as the leaders in that church are discussing this at the time of this writing.

Please also be in prayer for our finances. We are all living on the very edge of being able to pay our bills and of support through the mission. I have two of my books that I need to reprint as I have orders but do not have the money to do so at this time. The sale of materials I have produced is part of our tent-making so if I cannot print those books that cuts of some of our support. We continue to trust the Lord for this ministry which He called us to and there are many here who depend on us. So we appreciate your prayers.

With love,
Sandy Simpson & family

Co-Laborers In His Harvest Field

Dear All,

We have been having record turnout at our Bible studies. We have a number of new people coming now. My van is full most of the time these days with many more coming with their own rides. We also have a large number of young people attending. We still have many who are laid up with various infirmities and some who are doing a lot of traveling. I am currently teaching through Corinthians and am in the second letter now. We thank the Lord that He is helping many to grow spiritually as their lives, questions and comments indicate. I also just finished and sent out a special edition of the Pacific Waves to all the pastors in Micronesia. It has information on cults and heretical movements in the churches. I hope this will be a help to many who struggle to give answers to their church people on these issues.

Please continue to pray for our financial situation. I want to thank those individuals and churches who faithfully support us and some who have given large gifts through the mission. We have some family members who will be coming out for Christmas so please be in prayer that we will have good fellowship in the Lord and that we will be able to afford the extra cost. If any of you attend a church that is looking for mission work to support please mention us to them. I can supply any info they want.

Thank the Lord that we remain healthy and active. Please pray that more people will order materials from my web site as that is part of our tent making. It has been very slow lately, likely due to the economy. We thank you for being co-laborers in His harvest field with us. We see the effects weekly of our work here in the lives of many Micronesian islanders. We thank you for your continued prayers and support. Pray for Rose as she continues to be a forming influence in the lives of many small children. Pray for Josiah and his home school work. Pray for me as I continue to produce materials, both Bible studies and other, to help island Christians grow to maturity in Christ. Pray for Juanita and her visitation ministry. Thank you all and may the Lord richly bless you!

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Another Prayer Request

Dear Friends,

I have been informed by our mission that I need to raise another $500-600 per month of support which would be through Liebenzell Mission USA. You can contact them here:

Liebenzell Mission USA
P.O. Box 66
Schooley's Mt., NJ 07870

I have been contacting people and churches but many are hard hit by the recession. I am looking at trying to find a part time job that will fit between the cracks of our ministry schedule, homeschooling, driving my son to his job, etc. I would then take what I can make and send it to the mission to cover our shortfall. I have just been trusting the Lord to lead us in the right direction. Sales of my books, DVDs and CDs have been way off for a couple of months. This is the extra income I depend on to cover what we need.

I don't like talking about money issues. But I do covet your prayers right now. I honestly don't see how we can make it through next month if this shortfall continues. Juanita is also barely making it financially. Thankfully Rose's job is steady and she helps with some of our bills, including our health insurance. As you may have read from my other recent articles I know the Lord has us here to watch over His flock from the islands and disciple them. We have more people than ever attending the Bible studies, but I am hard pressed to pay for the gas I need to pick up people in our 15 passenger van. It costs $50. per week for that alone.

I am not complaining, just trusting the Lord because He has always met our needs. Please pray with us that He will show us what He wants us to do during this critical time.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Praise The Lord For His Quick Answer!

Due to our efforts and those of many leaders in the Micronesian community the Hawaii government has decided to extend the medical coverage for critical care for another two years. This is a direct answer to prayer and we are so thankful to the Lord that He takes care of the poor and helpless. Please continue to pray about this issue, however. In the statement of the official from the State of Hawaii she said that those who had cancer before this extension will be covered for chemotherapy but new cases will not. I don't believe this is acceptable, particularly among the Marshallese who are owed medical care for as long as they continue to have birth defects, cancer and other medical issues because of environmental radiation brought on by the testing of the atom bomb on two of their atolls. Pray that the HI state officials will be able to understand the full picture. I still intend to challenge the federal government to live up to its obligations to the Republic of the Marshalls and the other two island nations.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Urgent Prayer Request

Dear Friends & Supporters,

I wanted to make you aware of a serious situation that is developing and ongoing here in Hawaii. The information I want to present to you is spelled out in a news story from the Honolulu Advertiser here:

http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/200908210200/NEWS15/908210339

The lead line for the story states this:

A state plan to scale back health care benefits to about 7,500 adult Micronesians — including no longer covering dialysis treatment or chemotherapy — could be a "death sentence" for some, advocates and patients' relatives warned at a legislative briefing yesterday.

As soon as I was made aware that Medicaid would no longer be available to Micronesians, which is a Federal program administrated by the States, in favor of a local State-controlled program which would not include insurance to cover critical health care, I wrote to the Governor, Lt. Governor and some Senators about this issue. We know a number of Micronesians here who, if these coverages were canceled, would die. They have nowhere else to go.

I am in the process of trying to find out if the State of HI can cancel Medicaid for critical care such as dialysis when those monies were made available by the Federal government in part as part of their compact obligations with the three nations in the Micronesian islands. Of particular concern would be their proposed cutting off funds to patients from the Republic of the Marshalls as the US owes reparations to those islands for using them as a testing ground for the atom bomb. The islands of Bikini and others are still radioactive today as well as the sea life. This has effected the Marshallese with birth defects and cancer, in particular. There is also a high incidence of diabetes there as a result of having to eat canned food instead of fresh seafood. So the Marshallese are particularly and understandably angered over this decision that is basically tied to State of HI cutbacks in order to survive the recession.

The other two governments of Micronesia were Trust Territories and the US promised to help them. The Federated States of Micronesia, in particular, has had some governors who "took the money and ran" instead of spending it on infrastructure. But the people of those islands are not to blame for some nefarious individuals.

The islanders come to HI for medical help and the hospitals reap the benefits of Medicaid and insurance payments. Many families end up living here on an extended basis and, though they are not full US citizens, are employed and pay state and federal taxes. They are also consumers, which feeds the economy. They have most of the rights of US citizens but cannot vote, for instance.

I wrote two emails to the Governor of HI stating the following:

Dear Governor Lingle,

We have been working with Micronesian islanders here on Oahu for 10 years. We try to help them in many ways and we visit them in the hospitals. I was surprised to learn in a recent article in the Honolulu Advertiser here ...

http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/20090821/NEWS15/908210339/-1/localnewsfront

... that Micronesians, who have an agreement of free association with the US, will be denied critical health services here. I understand your need to cut back during this recession, but there is a difference between cutting back on employment and cutting back on life. I know many Micronesians on dialysis and chemo who, if denied these services, will have nowhere else to turn. Sending them back to their islands amounts to a death sentence for most of them.

In my view this is not an area to make cuts. Making cuts in other social services, making State employees take furloughs, etc. makes sense, but cutting back on health critical services is inhumane. I hope you will read this and reconsider your actions in this matter.

Our Lord can help people have a heart for the poor people of Micronesia, those we serve here in HI. Please pray that the hearts of those in the government will be open to helping those least able to help themselves. We understand the need for fiscal responsibility, but not at the cost of the deaths of God's people.

If the government can give out cash for clunkers, they can give cash for the lives of people.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

News from Rose & Juanita

I wanted to let you in on some of the things Rose went through in being at her father's side during his last days. I want to thank you for your prayers for him and for our family during this time. Rose is now back in Hawaii and gearing up for school. Following are some emails Rose sent out. - Sandy

Rose’s Dad Report

May 30, 2009

Thank you for your prayers for my Dad. He is sleeping almost all the time. He has not urinated for about 31 hours, and no BM for 6 days. It seems his body is shutting down. His wish is to die at home, so that is where he is. I am just staying by his side and sleeping there so when he wakes for a second, he knows I am there. It is so funny the things he says to me now. Things like "I love you like a bushel of potatoes!" I am trying to joke with him and make him smile. I told him tonight that I was thinking of calling Guiness World Book of Records to see if they have a record of someone not peeing for the longest time! I said they would probably bring a whole film crew! He thought that was funny. Dad seems pretty much at peace, but I am hoping for one more opportunity where he is coherent enough to talk to him about his salvation and eternal peace. It is hard with people always here. I want him to be able to be honest and really be ready to be with his Maker. I am so thankful I have a God of forgiveness and second chances. I love my Dad and want him to get his new body and home...

June 5, 2009

I am in Alaska taking care of Dad these past 5 weeks. He has gone from being able to sit and eat to now a vegetative state. He signed a comfort one agreement and a living will which states no intravenous liquids or feeding tube. This part is hard for my brother Roger and me, but we know it would only prolong his suffering. We have him at home and have one caregiver during the day. Otherwise, it is us on duty, though we rarely leave. (We actually fired his primary caregiver for Medicare fraud, taking financial advantage of Dad because she had his bank card, incompetence, and not following his medicine instructions) We are helping to administer meds for comfort and I have learned to use the suction machine and at least can help in that way. I think Dad is ready to leave this world spiritually. He is pretty much unresponsive now. We are just praying he does not have to suffer long. We made funeral arrangements today. Thank you for your prayers during this time.

June 10, 2009

Just a note to thank you again for your prayers. My Dad passed away on the evening of Saturday, June 6th after a very long battle with COPD. My brother Roger, his wife, Marlene, and myself were with him as he passed away in his home as he wished. This was a sad and difficult time for all of us, but during his last days when he could still communicate, he assured us that he had accepted the Lord, he was at peace and he was ready to go home. When I was crying he said "You are supposed to be happy now". I said that he was right and I was happy he had a new home and body to look forward to. His wish was to be cremated. We are seeing if we can arrange a gathering next year in North Carolina at Crawford's Creek where my Dad grew up. We would have a memorial service and put his ashes there. Thanks again for your prayers and encouragements.

Juanita’s Majuro Report

From June 26th to July 6th I had the privilege of being the Guest Speaker at a Women's Conference in Majuro, Marshall Islands. I was invited by the women of the Reformed Congregational Church in Majuro. I was to teach 4 mornings, basically all morning. They allowed me to choose the subjects, so I decided, after prayer, to have 2 different streams of teaching, with crossovers between the two. One was on the Book of Jonah and the other on Family Problems - like Anger, Fear, Unfaithfulness and Selfishness. The title I gave to the teaching was: "Do you ever feel like running away?" The key verse was Rev. 2:10b: "Be faithful, even to death, and I will give you the crown of life. "

The conference began on Sunday morning, and 1 was asked to give the morning message. I spoke on "Bringing Life Out of Death" using the story of Naaman from II Kings 5. The church was packed. I was thankful for such an opportunity to make the gospel clear. 2 of the pastors of the church expressed their appreciation to me afterwards for the message. To God be the glory!

I was pleased that the 30 or so women who attended all the sessions brought their Bibles. They followed along in their Bibles and many of them took notes. They seemed to be very interested and attentive - not easy in a hot and humid climate like Micronesia. I learned that they had been anticipating this conference for a long time and had been fundraising by making things and selling them. That paid for my plane fare, hotel room and food, as well as food for all the participants, which they cooked every day.

On Friday we all went by boat to a tiny island across the lagoon for an outing and picnic. It is owned by one of my former students. We had a lovely time there, enjoying the beauty of God's amazing creation, and eating local food cooked over small firepits. We ate land crabs, fish, breadfruit, coconut, etc. That night we were all invited to the first birthday party of Catherine & Kaje's grandson. First birthdays are huge celebrations in the MarshalIs, so there were probably 200 people there, with mountains of food.

One of the special treats for me while I was in Majuro was to see some of my former students from Bethania. I was able to see 20 different ones, some of whom I haven't seen for many years. A few were able to attend the conference, but most could not because of their work schedules. Some of them came to the hotel room to visit with me. On my last night in Majuro the Bethania alumnae invited me to have dinner with them in a restaurant. It was a fun time, with the singing of some old familiar songs, and brief stories about their lives today. It made me so thankful to God for the privilege I have had to be involved in the lives of hundreds of young women during my years at Bethania and since.

I arrived home in Hawaii at 2:30 AM to live a second Monday of the same week. The first Monday was in Majuro on the other side of the International Dateline and the second in Hawaii on this side of the Dateline. I was exhausted, but very grateful for God's care for me during those days, and for the kindness and love I enjoyed with my Marshallese brothers and sisters in the Lord. Please pray that the Word of God that was planted will continue to bear fruit in their lives, and the lives of their families and church.

April Report

I just wanted to update you on things that are happening here in the islands so you can be praying for us. We have been having good Bible studies even though we have a number of people who are back in their home islands right now. I have been teaching in 1 Corinthians and will conclude that study the first week of June. The two letters to the Corinthians are packed with practical teaching as well as doctrinal issues. This week I am teaching about the law of Christ, which is love. Juanita will teach another Bible study after I am done and then I will conclude with 2 Corinthians. Juanita has been invited to do a woman's conference in Majuro in the Republic of the Marshalls at the end of June. Please pray that she will be prepared and that her health will hold up. It is not always easy for her to take a trip like that. We will be blessed to have my sister Angela and her family visit us in June. We are looking forward to that time together. We had a young man run into Rose's car who was uninsured. Fortunately myself, Rose and Juanita are fine after that accident. Josiah was the main actor in a play about Christ's death and Resurrection at a local church. This was a first for him and he did a great job as the centurion who crucified Christ. Carissa has had a very bad ear infection this week with bleeding from her ear so we would appreciate your prayers for her. Carissa and Fudge continue to be on the worship team at our church. There has been renewed violence among the different island groups here especially in Chinatown. Please pray for the safety of our Bible study people as a number of their families live close to that area and they are often under threats of violence. Please also continue to pray for many of our Bible study people who have various medical problems. We would especially covet your prayers for Bila who has been facing possible amputation of one of her feet. This week the doctors were going to amputate but another doctor decided to wait and see if her foot can recover. Thank you for your continued prayer and support for this ministry.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Simpson Supporter Update

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center; cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 274px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GI7U7VeTuDo/SbSE9Nf1n1I/AAAAAAAAAEQ/7EiEihP9rkA/s320/sandy%26rose2008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311016047706742610" />
Dear Supporters,

I thank the Lord for you and the fact that you continue to support the ministry the Lord has given our family. I know that it is not easy for anyone financially these days, which is why I am even more grateful than usual. I just wanted to remind you of what you are doing and how you are helping this ministry.

Some of you may have been aware that we had been having van problems with our smaller van for a while. I had been working on our small van that belongs to my mother and had replaced a number of things I thought were contributing to the problems we were having with it misfiring and lurching up hills. Just when I had reached the end of my ability to repair the van we received a check in the mail from one of our supporting churches. To make a long story short, the van is now running great! Thanks to your prayers and the church that sent us the money, which was enough to cover 2/3 of the repair cost, we now have a running van. Many people have expressed thanks for the Bible studies lately. Juanita went through Malachi and I am now teaching 1 Corinthians. We have some new pastors coming to the study and lately we have had a lot of youth attending. I really try to make it interesting for them and deal with issues they have to deal with. A number of times, on my way to picking up and dropping off attendees, a group of the youth ask me many questions. It gives me a golden opportunity to answer their questions and encourage them in their faith. Many of them attend public school here and are dealing with issues of being taught by unbelievers. I appreciate the time I have while picking people up to discuss issues and answer additional questions that arise in the Bible studies. It is not uncommon for me to be on the road for an hour and a half picking people up and an hour or more dropping them off. Please continue to pray for Pastor Graceful and his wife Bila. She continues to convalesce from serious problems that left her feet and hands black and gangrenous. She has had some improvement and would appreciate your prayers. So far the doctors have not had to amputate and it has been many months now.

I want to leave you with this prayer in these uncertain days:

Lord, I would trust Thee completely; I would be altogether Thine; I would exalt Thee above all. I desire that I may feel no sense of possessing anything outside of Thee. I want constantly to be aware of Thy overshadowing Presence and to hear Thy speaking Voice. I long to live in restful sincerity of heart. I want to live so fully in the Spirit that all my thought may be as sweet incense ascending to Thee and every act of my life may be an act of worship. Therefore I pray in the words of Thy great servant of old, "I beseech Thee so for to cleanse the intent of mine heart with the unspeakable gift of Thy grace, that I may perfectly love Thee and worthily praise Thee." And all this I confidently believe Thou wilt grant me through the merits of Jesus Christ Thy Son. Amen. (A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit Of God, The Sacrament of Living, Chapter 10)

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson
P.O. Box 1759
Pearl City, HI 96782
Email: ssimpson@hawaii.rr.com
Blog: http://simpsonfamilynews.blogspot.com/

From Juanita ...

God called us to minister to the Micronesians now residing temporarily or permanently here in Hawaii. Why do Micronesians come here from their islands? There are a number of reasons, but the most prominent and obvious is their need for health care. The health facilities in those small islands leave much to be desired. For instance, there are no dialysis machines there except in Palau. So when a Marshallese, Chuukese, Kosraean or Pohnpeian suffers from kidney failure, he has 2 choices: come to Hawaii or die! We found that those staying here need encouragement. comfort, prayer and Bible teaching. And so there developed a visitation ministry. The other great need we found was for deep verse-by-verse study of the Bible, especially for the pastors and church workers. And so we began Bible Studies.

We are very thankful for the ways in which the Lord is blessing the Bible Studies each week on Tuesday and Saturday at our house. The attendance has increased. There are 50 or more attending each week. Of these, 7 are pastors. The rest are men, women, and young people. Most come with their Bibles, eager to learn and sometimes asking questions. One woman whose husband has to work at night tapes each lesson for him. Sandy and I take turns teaching. I just finished teaching Jonah and Malachi, and now Sandy is teaching I Corinthians. We copy our teaching notes and pass them out to everyone so that they can reread and study them further at home, or use them in ministries of their own.

Certain things that are happening encourage us to know that God is at work instilling His Word deeply into the hearts of those who attend the studies. One is that people feel free to call us up whenever they are stumped in their personal Bible Study or sermon preparation. They call to ask for further explanation of a passage they are studying. Others call just because they need someone to pray for and with them. In recent weeks I have been asked repeatedly to order a commentary for someone from Christian Book Distributors. They carry a big variety of Bibles and other helps. The people at CBD must wonder why this lady is ordering so many commentaries! Others have asked me to order large print Bibles for themselves, or small teen Bibles for their grandchildren. I rejoice to see God’s Word being taken seriously!

We have seen God wonderfully answer prayer in the lives of people I have been visiting. Let me give you a few examples from recent weeks. Ponet had breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and chemo treatments. The doctors in Majuro and Hawaii all told her she would die. But she loves the Lord and we visited weekly and prayed urgently for her. She is much better and has returned home for a few months. Ashton is a young man who fell under a city bus. His hand was crushed under the wheel. His hand is healing, but he still needs the Lord. Bila came very close to death and ended up with gangrene in her foot and most of her fingers. It looked like amputation would be necessary. She is still bed-ridden, but the gangrene is slowly disappearing. We love to sing praise to the Lord when I visit her before studying the Word and praying together.

Billy was very close to death when he arrived here from the Marshalls. He was suffering from severe kidney failure. When we first visited him he looked very bad, was on oxygen and IV. A few days later I visited him in the hospital again. I could hardly believe the change. He said it all started when we prayed. “To God be the glory!” was what Cathleen and I were singing as we headed home down the halls of the hospital. Juaier is a high chief in an area of the Marshalls. When he got here the doctors told him they would amputate his arm that was full of infection. His wife refused and we prayed. He still has his arm and it is much better. Pray that he will give his arm and his heart to Christ as I have urged him to. Liklol had bypass heart surgery. He wept as we rejoiced together in God’s love and mercy at rescuing him before it was too late. Please pray with us that our love and God’s powerful and comforting Word will produce much fruit for His kingdom.

“God is not unjust. He will not forget your work, and hthe love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.” Heb. 6:10

Gratefully yours,
Juanita Simpson

On adVANcing the Gospel

Some of you may have been aware of our van problems for a few months. I had been working on our small van that belongs to my mother and had replaced a number of things I thought were contributing to the problems we were having with it misfiring and lurching up hills. Here is what I did, for you car buffs out there: I replaced the spark plugs and wires. I cleaned out all the air, vacuum and fuel hoses. I replaced the fuel filter twice, once before I added condensation evaporation additive and two types of fuel system cleaners, and once afterwards. I tried adjusting the timing on the distributor cap and air adjustment on the carburetor. After running a diagnostic on the car's computer system with an instrument I borrowed from a friend, which indicated the car was misfiring, as was already obvious :), I changed the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). I did a number of other things to the van but it never seemed to solve the problem. The problem had developed after taking it to a shop after a belt broke and it never did run right after I took it there. I talked to them about it but they were not willing to say they did anything wrong so I was loath to take it back there and pay them to fix a problem they likely had created. Just last week we received a check in the mail from one of our supporting churches. This prompted us to bring it into the Mazda service center. (Motto: always get a professional to do a professional job!) They got the same diagnostic reading I did but found one of the spark plugs (I put in) was cracked, a vacuum hose was disconnected (likely what the other auto shop forgot to reconnect when they put on my belts) and that it needed a new distributor cap and rotor (two things I did not replace). To make a long story even longer, the van is now running great! Thanks to your prayers and the church who sent us the money, which was enough to cover 2/3 of the repair cost, we now have a running van again just in time for our Bible studies to start up in earnest. Just to let you know, many people have expressed thanks for the Bible studies lately. Juanita has been going through Malachi. We also had a group of friends come out to hear Jacob Prasch who was here in a local church on his way to the Philippines for some pastor's seminars. They were powerfully blessed, and one of the men said that he wished every church on the island could hear what Jacob preached from Heb. 12-13. I have been receiving many thanks through my web site also lately for the information and articles provided there and for my personal responses. I will be starting my study in 1 Cor. when mom finishes. Thanks again for your prayers. The Lord has been very good to us and has continually provided for us, many times using you, our faithful supporters, to do so.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Wishing you a blessed Christimas!

Dear Supporters & Friends,

Christmas blessings from our family to you and yours this season!

We want to start out by thanking you for your faithful support in finances and prayer. The Lord continues to bless our ministry with Micronesian islanders. We have more people attending our studies than ever, in fact many times we don’t have room in our 15-passenger and 8-passenger vans to pick up the ones who are unable to drive themselves. The number of island pastors who have been attending our studies has increased lately and we know they are using our materials. In our last study one of the families who come to our studies brought enough food to feed all of us … Queen Seagull of the Ebeye islands with her husband Morrison are here on island for medical reasons for an extended period. We also have an increase in the number of Marshallese in our studies. Many of them are Bethania alumni.

In personal news: Rose continues to be a blessing to her Kindergarten class at Pearl Harbor Christian Academy. Carissa is still working for the Bank of Hawaii, currently as their business teller. Her husband Fudge works teaching at a charter school in Waianae that has a large population of Hawaiians. Cassie is in California working and still planning to continue her college education. Josiah is in 10th grade home school and works part-time four days a week at the school where Rose teaches. I have been working on video projects lately, keeping up with my web sites, preparing Bible studies and writing messages I will be sharing in a couple of local churches.

We covet your prayers at this time. Juanita and I both lost a significant portion of our retirement funds in the recent stock market “crash”, as many others have. This is much more difficult for mom since it is her main source of income. We are praying that the Lord will provide for our needs as we face an uncertain future, as He always has. The Lord led us here and we have seen many people become believers and/or grow to Christian maturity as a result. We hope to continue to do this ministry as the Lord allows. We also realize that many people have been supporting us above and beyond the call of duty. We are thankful everyday for that. Be in prayer for many Christian ministries during this time, as finances have or will become an issue.

I want to leave you with a Christmas prayer I ran across that expresses my thoughts of thankfulness:

Father God, When your precious Son became a tiny baby in a stable in Bethlehem in poverty and simplicity, you changed our world. As we imagine those surroundings, we join with the shepherds and the wise men in wonder and praise. We thank you for our material lives, praise you for our spiritual lives, and trust in you for our eternal life. Amen.

With love,
Sandy Simpson and family
P.O. I have removed her name to protect her identity as reprisals are common among these groups. I get a lot of letters from people who have realized they have been deceived by false teachers, but after having gone through what this lady describes I can only praise the Lord that He rescued her from such a dire situation.

Dear Mr. Simpson,

I would like to share with you that I am just now coming out of the false teachings of Latter Rain theology. I have been a member of a MorningStar {Rick Joyner} congregation for 13 years. I was an "intercessor" in my church for 13 years and led and trained other intercessors in "Spiritual Warfare" techniques perpetrated by Peter Wagner and Cindy Jacobs and all the rest of them. I was one of the false teachers. Sept 14, 2008 I walked out of my former congregation never to return. My former pastor has used guilt and condemnation and manipulation to try and make me continue to believe the false teachings. I could literally write a book on the deception that we are spoon fed a little at a time, year after year.

I have two garbage bags full of books, 60 so far that are now in the garbage waiting to be picked up tomorrow morning. I was indoctrinated into the deception. Being an avid reader I love books. The only problem is I was going to hell in a hand basket and none the wiser. Deception In The Church website has been a lifeline to me during this trying time. I literally thought that I was going to go insane. Everything that I have based my life on these last 13 years is false. I was a leader and a member of the highest standing in my former congregation. I was there 3 times a week, year in and year out. I was the poster child of my church.

I am ordering the (New Apostolic Reformation) DVD because I have to renew my mind on the truth of the scripture. My former pastor actually told me that, "Not all teaching has to line up with the Bible." We were having a heated discussion about Rick Joyner's teachings at the time. I answered and said, "I live my life by what the Bible says and for me it has to line up." As I said I could write a book about the twisting and lies.

Thank you for your service to the body of Christ. You are literally saving souls who are being led down a path of no return unless they find out the truth. God bless you and keep you.

Received by letter 9/15/08

Be encouraged that your support and prayers for the apologetics I am doing are paying off. Please continue to pray that God will grant more and more people repentance (2 Tim. 2:25). He is the God who rescues (Is. 46:4).

In His Hands,
Sandy Simpson
http://www.apologeticscoordinationteam.com/

August Update

First of all I want to thank our financial supporters. We continue to see an increase in our support level. We are still in need of a further boost in our support, but we are slowly getting to where we should be. Thank you especially for your prayers. We have had many opportunities for ministry lately and our Bible studies have been very full. Both Juanita and I have had speaking opportunities at a local church.

I would like to recount for you a situation that just happened. One of our study attendees, a pastor who is now an invalid and being cared for by his wife who continues to be a regular at our Bible studies, had a relative recently die of cancer. We had been praying for her and Juanita has been visiting this pastor and his wife regularly sharing a Bible study with them. I also visit when I can. I have been sending the current study I am doing on forgiveness home to him through his wife. There has been years of tension and trouble between his family and the family of the relative who just died. At the memorial he shared with them from my study about the need for forgiveness among the two clans. They were able to come together and forgive one another and that relationship between the clans has been restored. This news was an encouragement to me that the lessons the Lord led me to put together, which are now also in book form, have been a blessing to many. I believe this subject is hitting home with many others. I hope the lessons and book will be a help to many in this area of the world who struggle with this issue.

Please continue to pray for our family and ministry. When you are on the front lines for the Lord you need a support team back home. We cannot do this without you. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Simpson News - May 2008

Finances

I know some of you have been waiting to hear where our support level is at the moment. I want to start by thanking our many supporting individuals and churches for coming to our aid. Our monthly support is now almost to the level it needs to be! The Lord has been so good to us. I am writing this report to ask those who support us to prayerfully continue the level of support you have been sending into the mission for us, and to ask those who have not yet come on board our financial support team to consider doing so. We had many donations sent in at the beginning of 2008 and are hoping that through both donations and pledged monthly support we will be able to meet our monthly goals and also pay down the debt we have at the mission for the shortfall of the past few years. I am very grateful for many of you who have given sacrificially to the work we are doing with Micronesians. It means a lot to us.

Family Visit

We were blessed to have a 10-day visit from my sister Angela and brother-in-law Steve Leuice. It was a good time of fellowship together. They attended our Bible studies and were able to see some old friends and meet others. We were also able to have some extended family get-togethers. Please be in prayer for their church ministry in Camino, CA.
Following are some updates on our ministry and how people are being helped.

Helped In Prayer & Counseling

From Juanita: It was difficult to watch Kyle, an 18-year-old Marshallese, slowly sink. He was dying of leukemia. I visited him twice a week at the hospital on the other side of Honolulu. He was not always coherent because of the heavy drugs they were giving him. I spoke to him of the need to give his heart to Christ and prepare to meet Him. Sometimes I sang to him. I did my best to comfort his grieving parents who were usually there with him. A young man of few words, he said to me at one visit, “Thank you so very much for everything!” One day he told his mother who was crying, “Don’t cry, Mother. I am OK and know now where I’m going.” I believe he came to faith in Christ during those weeks. It was a privilege for me to give the message at his funeral at the request of his parents.

From Juanita: Pastor Aikawa from Chuuk is on his bed in their apartment downtown. He is a severe diabetic who has lost the use of his feet. Accustomed to being greatly involved in the life of his church, he is suffering loneliness and disappointment, as well as the embarrassment of wearing a diaper and needing to be cleaned up by his wife and niece. He and his wife Yusta call me often to ask for prayer or to tell me about their latest family or health problems. Pastor Aikawa looks forward to my weekly visit when I take a plate of fruit or baked goods and spend some time in fellowship, Bible study and prayer. Pray that his spirit will remain strong as his body weakens.

From Juanita: I visit Grace each Sunday at the nursing home where she lives. She is from Ailinglapalap in the Marshalls. Grace has had a stroke that paralyzed one side. Recently they have found spots on her back and brain, for which they gave radiation treatments. Raised a Catholic, she has limited knowledge of the scripture. Cathleen, her cousin, gave her a Bible and now she is eager each week for the short Bible Study I do with her. She is learning where to look for the various passages, finds them with her one good hand, and marks them as we go along. I praise the Lord for His work in her life.

At the writing of this newsletter we had a Chuukese lady come over to our house who is concerned with witchcraft in her family. Please pray for her and for us as we sometimes are called to counsel people on this subject.

Helped In Bible Studies

I finished my series on the Seven Letters in Revelation and currently Juanita is teaching through the book of Daniel. The amazing prophecies of Daniel have encouraged and strengthened the faith of many in our Bible studies. It is amazing how the Lord showed us the kingdoms of the earth, which would come and are coming, hundreds and thousands of years before their fulfillment. He also showed Himself to be One God with more than one person in the Godhead (Dan. 7:13). Our meetings have been packed recently. I had 19 people in my 15-passenger van one evening, which was kind of scary. But the Lord is blessing us. We have had a number of visitors from off-island recently at our studies.

Helped In Preaching

Both Juanita and I have recently had the opportunity to speak in a local church. Juanita taught a two-part series on Jonah. I taught the first of a two-part series on some of the current trends and false teachings in the churches. I will preach the second part of that message in August 2008. Some of our Palauan friends also attended the services as the church we spoke at was in their area. Many people told us they were blessed by our preaching and personally helped.

Helped To Be More Discerning

Following are a selection of emails from the past month by those who have been helped by my web sites and my responding emails. I get many good reports each month from Micronesia and beyond on how the information I have provided on the web has helped them.

Dear Sandy Simpson, Thank you so much for your response concerning the Todd Bentley Revival In Lakeland Florida... Seems like you've seen this error before and are very familiar with it... After my email to you I searched your site further and read some materials on those he's associated with... So many of our brethren are enamored with the sensational experiences people are having not realizing the deception therein... Blessings and Prayers for your continued search for the truth, a watchman, and sharing what the lord shows you with others who are also searching for truth...In Him... N. C. G.

I want to send a note of thanks for providing this website. My husband and I were attending a church that believes in all the gifts, signs & wonders experiences and all that is shown on GOD TV. One of the practices that disturbed me was "soaking" that one lady learned at a Toronto Airport Conference gathering. … Having been involved with the occult before I was saved (astrology & such things), it made me rather uneasy. I know it could only come from two sources. … It is important to me that I live in truth. A.C., England

Heads up for doing a wonderful job in being a true pastor/shepherd- defending the flock from wolves, deceivers and hucksters. … Australia is being plagued by the big churches doctrines- they channel big names through their conferences and endorse faulty teachings where average Christians take hook line and sinker. … Once again, your site is great. God bless! J. E., Australia

Thanks so much for your website. I only just found it today through a crazy maze of googling and following links from other sites. I must admit to being misled for a time by the Elijah List and various "ministries" featured there. …I have only been on your site about ten minutes and I am already refreshed and encouraged. Thank you for the obvious time and effort you have invested. … R.

Thank you for all your hard work on this subject, it is a burden, I just hate this stuff, especially the spiritual warfare techniques in those books they have on their site and beyond, their council increases peoples hurt confusion, and damages them. The Peter Wagner training, railing against powers, is growing not just in the established church but outside … J.

Dear Sandy, Finally someone is starting to expose the NOLR hub of prophetic … known as Elijahlist!!! … I think that we as Christians when we interface with others who claim to be Christians … need to spell out what we mean by "worship and prayer" as many NOLR leaders have at least one second covert meaning for the same term!!! …W. M., U of Minnesota

Sandy, May the Lord bless you with this important endeavor. What evil has been coming from that (ElijahList). They have no fear of God, shamelessly marketing the church. Sandy, I support you fully with your exposing the unfruitful works of darkness. … B. A.

There is much deception in the Body of Christ and drawing a plumb line from an apologetic Biblical point of view is certainly one way to do it. … I love your disclaimer it shows that you want the truth and says none of us has a market on the truth we can only point to scripture and share what we think it means. I suspect sometimes you guys feel like John the Baptist a voice crying in the wilderness as it seems people are like sheep to the slaughter so easily persuaded with so little effort from so many. Keep up the good work. …Sincerely, C. E., Waco, Texas

Thank you for your fantastic web site and I would be so grateful to receive your newsletter. C.

Dear Brother Sandy, Warm Greetings in Jesus Name! My name is A. G. I am married with two children. I am 37 years old and have been in ministry since 1987. I am a pastor and lecturer at a Bible Seminary in Durban, South Africa. 95% of our students come from previously disadvantaged communities. I also lead a pastors fellowship, where about 25 pastors meet every month. I was recently asked to address a pastors conference in Durban. My subject was the core teachings of the NAR. I really had trouble with this and with the assistance of a friend, I was able to present something of the root teachings of the NAR. I must confess, I really had a challenge. Why Am I writing to YOU? I was made aware of a set of six DVD's that are available on the subject. I contacted Moriel Ministries in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am appealing to you for your help in this regard. I am very concerned about the influence of the NAR (although in different forms) in South Africa. Can you please help me with a set of the six DVD's? Your response will be highly appreciated Thanking you in anticipation … Dear Sandy, Thank you for your favourable response and kind gesture. It is really greatly appreciated. I look forward to receiving the DVD's. I will definitely use your gift to enhance my life, ministry and that of our pastors and students at the Bible Seminary. Thanks Again, A. G., SOUTH AFRICA

Dear brother Sandy, Greetings in Jesus name. I really do appreciate your promptness in answering my questions. Thank you very much. The Lord our GOD bless you and your ministries, bro. S.

Shalom in Messiah Sandy! I just had to drop you a note to thank you again for your great work for the Kingdom. I have just downloaded the ELIJAH LIST teaching, and I cannot thank you enough for your sound editorial. I just wanted to encourage you a bit, and say keep it up! Jesus is proud of you! Watching and Praying with you, E. M. just a PS...I did want to thank you that these wonderful and useful apologetic materials and articles are FREE. While on Elijah List, if you want a prophecy for 2008, you have to pay $70+ ... that is the first thing that I thought was weird about their policies... thank you for offering your Spirit-given insights for free!

You Can Help Us!

If you wish to start supporting us monthly, or wish to send in a special financial gift, you can do so by making your check payable to “Liebenzell Mission USA”, writing “Simpson Support” on the check and sending it to:

Liebenzell Mission USA
P.O. At this point it looks very encouraging. We had a large amount of monthly support and gifts from December through February. Praise the Lord! I am waiting to make a formal announcement here and possibly in a paper newsletter till the end of this month and until we can determine that enough monthly support has been raised. Keep praying for us. The mission work here has been going well. A number of old friends have come through Hawaii lately and we have had a blessed time with them. The Bible studies continue to be well attended. There have been a number of funerals here lately, as there always seem to be, and Juanita was invited to be the main speaker at one of them. Pray for the widows left behind. Pray for the local Micronesian churches here that the Lord will work in them and through them to reach more people for Christ. Pray for protection, particularly for our Chuukese folks because there has lately been renewed inter-island violence here that threatens their homes and families.

This has just been a quick note to let you know what is going on with us. It’s nice for Josiah to have some spending money and also to be able to put some away.

Josiah continues to do well with home schooling under Sandy’s supervision.

My Dad

Many of you have prayed for my Dad, Walt, over the years. Please continue as he is having a very difficult time. Quite a while back the Dr. said he only had thirteen percent of one lung working. He has since become worse. The picture below shows my brother Roger, Dad and myself in March. I hope it will be possible for me to see him again. Roger has offered to bring Cassie up to Alaska over her spring break. None of the kids have been up there for several years. Hopefully that works out.

I am thankful Roger lives close and can visit Dad. Dad appreciates it when I can tell him people are praying for him.

Apologies

Please forgive me (Rose) for being so lousy about keeping in touch. I often think and pray for family and friends but just don’t write. Know that we do appreciate hearing from you! I am personally a little better with e-mail…

On a side note, I would love to hear from relatives who could contribute information or pictures to my genealogy research.

Sandy, Rose, Josiah & Juanita Simpson
P. He has provided all our needs through the ministry and faithful individuals and churches who pray for us and help us out financially. He has brought healing to our family members by His mercy and will. He has allowed us to participate in His work in the islands of the Pacific and around the world through the various ministries He has given us. We see island Christians being brought to maturity in Christ so that they can disciple others and not be blown about by every wind of doctrine. I receive email from all over the world due to my web sites. I am encouraged to see that though there is a real apostasy happening in many churches today, there are individual Christians who are standing tall in the truth of God's Word and have been helped by the materials we provide. Our Bible studies are equipping pastors to be able to lead their island churches more effectively. I want to reprint a portion of our mission annual report here so that you can be aware of what we are doing in greater detail. I am doing this because we are in need of additional support at this time because some of our supporters have gone to be with the Lord and we covet your prayers and financial support. We are looking for churches and individuals to fill this gap as the Lord moves you. If you are led to begin to support our ministry, please send any inquiries or donations to:

Liebenzell Mission USA
P.O. Box 66
Schooley's Mt., NJ 07870

The following is from our annual mission report:

The Simpson family is evangelizing, encouraging, discipling and counseling Micronesian islanders on Oahu, HI from the islands of Palau, Yap, Chuuk, Guam, Saipan, Pohnpei, Kosrae and the Marshalls. Many island groups have their own established churches here on Oahu so we are coming alongside the established churches to provide discipleship and mentoring, especially for the leadership of the island churches, and many of those who come to Oahu for medical purposes or work are going back to their islands equipped to disciple others.

Some of the highlights of ministry for this last year are in the latest Simpson News newsletter at http://ssimpson.www2.50megs.com/ We also have a new Simpson Family News blog at http://simpsonfamilynews.blogspot.com. The amazing story of the rescue of Tender and Ritako, in one of our recent newsletters, who are regular attendees of our Bible studies is proof that teaching Christians to be mature can take you through any trial. This is what we strive to do. We have seen an increase in attendance at our Chuukese Bible study and had many counseling opportunities. The Chuukese leadership has a lot on their plate. Our Palauan, Kosraean, Marshalese Bible study has had sparse attendance during the summer but we expect that to pick back this fall. I took a short week trip to Redding, California to take my second daughter, Cassie, to Simpson University. I also was able to speak at my brother-in-law’s church in Camino, CA. Juanita, my mother, will be gone for three weeks so our Bible studies will start back up in October. I also will be speaking in a local church here on Oahu at the end of September.

What are some difficulties you have encountered in ministry this year?

Some of the difficulties we have are just the normal logistics of contacting people and transporting them to and from our two weekly Bible studies. We need a lot of prayer in counseling island families whose children are dealing with the pressures of moving to a bigger city, drugs, alcohol, sex abuse, and vengeance in dealing with fights that cause family members to be injured or killed.

What are some of the goals you have set that were met this year?

For the most part the goals we have set from last year were accomplished in God's mercy and strength. We have accomplished more than we had first envisioned here from the start because the Lord clearly led us here apart from any "plan" and the Lord has brought us the ministries He wanted us to do and we have simply done them as needed. I have learned over the years to stop making big plans and praying to the Lord "bless me as I go" but to rather rely on His direction completely, no matter how absurd or impossible the situation may seem. Our goals continue to contact island alumni and pastors here in Oahu, invite them to come to our Bible studies when possible, prepare materials and present them in a simple and practical way while giving them written materials they can use in ministry, help with conferences when appropriate and help meet needs when we can with the grace and resources Gad has given us have been met. We have met all the above goals and others this past year, though we have not contacted as many new people as usual. This is because our Bible studies are running at about the maximum we can handle in our home and with transportation. But the impact of the studies, which are composed of more than half Christian church leadership, are having a tangible effect on the island churches. What we hope to do better is equip the church leadership to deal with the many problems of living in an island “inner city” type of circumstance.

What changes/improvements could enhance our ministry in the following areas as they relate to your goals?

(1) Evangelism – We always look for opportunities to witness to non-believers. This comes naturally through the exegesis of the Word in our studies and we see new people come and eventually make a profession of faith as well as older Christians who rededicate their lives to the Lord. We often see pastors who realize they are not living for the Lord come to us for counseling, even for salvation. This is an indication that they trust us and this is always a good sign.

(2) Discipleship – As we continue in this ministry, which is a compliment to Pacific Islands Bible College (PIBC) because we are reaching primarily people who are already in ministry in the island churches, we continue to see the fruit of this ministry in the growth and maturity of island church leaders. We believe that this will pay off in needed church changes in Micronesia, as the younger generation is being discipled by PIBC and comes to leadership in the churches. Our prayer is that the older generation will then accept the needed changes because they have come to fully realize the problems themselves by that time. So we are working from both ends, along with PIBC, toward a middle point of needed change. As to Christian maturity, we have seen some real maturation and sanctification happen due to our intense study of the Word and practical ideas for application.

(3) Training Leadership – This has become a main ministry for us, though we also have many youth who attend our studies. In fact lately we have added many young teens to our Chuukese group. Our emphasis is on Christian maturity and discernment, and practical application of what is taught verse by verse through the Word.

(4) Training Church Planting Teams - The local churches deal with church planting. We teach them the concepts, how to witness, the core doctrines, and issues having to do with the process of sanctification, but they do the mission work of planting new churches. We are not here to plant new churches but to train the leadership of the local islands churches to be able to effectively do that job.

(5) Other ministries - More support from the mission and missionaries for the discernment work I am doing, because it is one of the main issues that we need to address in the islands today. The influx of cult groups like the Moonies, Mormons, and other heretical groups into the islands is at an all time high. I have written a new book and have already produced a video series on the false teachings of the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous Peoples movement that is already gaining followers in the islands. The book is coauthored with another missionary/apologist Mike Oppenheimer. We have been able to help many church leaders deal with these issues through my newsletter the Pacific Waves and through personal contact. Please pray that we will continue to have the funds to send out that newsletter.

Five major goals we have for the coming year are:

(1) Ministry - We plan to continue to help the leadership from Chuuk to deal with serious issues in the churches here and in Chuuk. This is a continuing goal. Our primary goal is to teach them basic Christian precepts from the Bible and help them to learn to apply them here in their churches. We believe this has and will continue to have an effect on the home churches in Chuuk as they become mature in Christ and grow in their understanding of the Word. We also have a number of problems here in Oahu between Micronesian and other island groups and want to help them to be able to work these problems out. The Palauan church here in Oahu needs our prayers. They have established a church under a denomination that is compromised with a number of false teachings, with the blessing of one of the church leaders in Palau. Their pastor was suffering from cancer of the liver and pancreas and recently passed away so there is a need for new leadership there.

(2) Materials - I have written five books in the last three years on the topics of discernment, Christian maturity and end times prophecy. The goal of these books is to teach island Christians to be discerning and dig deep into the written Word. I am also producing DVDs on a number of subjects. For instance, I produced a DVD on my book “Discernment Toolkit”. These issues continue to impact the local churches in the islands.

(3) Speaking Opportunities - I will continue with opportunities to speak in local churches on Oahu and in the islands, especially on the topic of Christian leadership being good “under-shepherds” for the sheep. I have a number of speaking engagements set up for 2007 and into 2008 on Oahu.

(4) Personal – I am home schooling my son Josiah. Cassie is now attending Simpson University in Redding, CA. Josiah is doing much better in school now. Though he seems to have had a touch of ADHD in past years this home schooling computer curriculum seems to have been the answer to his problems. I have been using Teaching Textbooks for math for all three children and it has really helped Josiah. I am actually enjoying home schooling after many years of doing it now, though I initially dreaded the prospect when I learned I would have two students. Thank you for your prayers as they have been answered and please continue to pray for me in this regard. I continue to answer many hundreds of emails each month from people all over the world who visit my discernment web sites. Many thousands of people have been impacted by the sites and have been brought to a closer walk with Christ as a result of the 1500+ articles and other resources available from hundreds of Christian authors there. Certain false teachers have been stopped entering the islands because of the information I provide when the opportunity presents itself. The Moonies have been stopped entering some islands because of an article I wrote in the Pacific Waves but he continues to give out money, gifts and scholarships to his new school here in the Big Islands of Hawaii. The Chuukese principal of that school recently resigned because members of his family, who attend our Bible study, told him that Moon claims to be the Messiah. He did not believe this until Moon visited the school and claimed that he had gone to hell, rescued some of his “Moonies” from there, and took them to heaven. Other false teachers have also been thwarted. I have real opportunities, on a daily basis, to contend for the Faith and help Christians to remain in sound doctrine and put their belief system to work. As I continue to do this ministry the Lord has called me to do, which was something I never thought I would be doing, it has had a direct impact on the islands of Micronesia and many more lives than I ever thought possible. I covet the prayers of those who see the importance of being a Berean in these days of apostasy. My personal goal is to continue to help anyone I can to become mature in Christ so that they will be able to know the difference between good and evil (Heb. 5:14) and will not be blown about by every wind of doctrine (Eph. 4:14).

What are your long-term goals?

Two long-term goals we have would be helping the Chuukese church leadership to sort out and deal with their many problems, and this also applies to all the islands groups. Along with this, our long term goal has been to bring many of the leadership in the island churches, as God sends them to Oahu, to maturity in Christ so that they will, in turn, return to their islands and effect needed changes in their lives and the lives of their families, community and churches. We believe this is being done and is having a good long-term effect, but much more needs to be done, which can only really be done in God's timing.

What are some non-ministry goals?

Almost everything we do has something to do with service for the Lord, so it is hard for me to think about non-ministry goals. I would like to continue to write music and produce videos, which I enjoy, but those are always for the Lord's work so I can't really call them non-ministry. Two verses that guide me in this respect would be Colossians 3:17 "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Php 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

I hope the above portions of our report will give you a little light into our corner of the work God is doing through His Church. If you are not currently supporting us in prayer or in monthly support, please consider doing so. We really need them!

In His hands,
Sandy Simpson

Trip To California

Josiah, Cassie and I recently took a trip to California to drop Cassie at college. Having graduated home school, Cassie was accepted at Simpson University (all irony aside) and was able to get a number of grants and scholarships to be able at attend there for the 2007-2008 school year. We arrived on the first day of orientation, got her stuff into her room, attended an orientation where she signed up for various things, had lunch there, and then went to get her books and settle a few other things. Josiah and I came back the following noon for lunch and final goodbyes. It is hard for us to be apart but we are praying that Cassie will have a good college experience and do well there. Please be praying for her that she will be able to keep up with her studies and make lot of good friends there. Pray that she will draw ever closer to the Lord during this time.

Josiah and I continued back down to Camino, CA where my brother-in-law pastors a church there. I spoke at the Berean class that meets during the second service where I gave my testimony and answered some questions on discernment topics. We have a wonderful time there and I was encouraged to see the people there digging deep into the Word. I had a good time with my sister, her husband and kids there. We were able to go on some hikes and Josiah as able to go kayaking and tow me back on a rubber mattress after I had floated across the lake. The area close to Lake Tahoe is such a beautiful area. We give thanks to the Lord for protecting us on our trip and are glad to be back in HI now. I had over 500 emails to answer which should give you an idea of how much email I receive because of my web sites. But finally today I have been able to get everything done that got piled up for a week. I am sold out of two books and am reprinting them now. A number of them are still flying off the shelves. Pray for me as I continue to seek the Lord's will in co-authoring another book with Mike Oppenheimer on the subject of the New Age coming into the churches.

We are still behind on support at the mission so would appreciate your prayers in that regard. Anyone who would like to start supporting us can contact Liebenzell Mission USA, P.O. I am unfortunately forced to phase out of paper newsletters due to the prohibitive cost of mailing and printing. I know this will leave some out of the picture because they do not have a computer or web access.

You can view the archive of Simpson News newsletters here:

http://ssimpson.www2.50megs.com/index.html

Some of them are in html and the newer ones are in PDF so you will have to have Adobe Reader to view them.

You can also access the archive of past Pacific Wave newsletters here:

http://op.50megs.com/pw/xv28zb9x.html

As many of you know I also have two apologetics sites under the ministry name of Apologetics Coordination Team which you can visit by clicking on the following links:

ACT Deception In The Church site

http://www.apologeticscoordinationteam.com/ or http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/

http://op.50megs.com/ditc/ (mirror of the above)

ACT Speaker site

http://www.apologeticscoordinationteam.org/ or http://op.50megs.com/act/

I also have an ACT podcast site where you can download MP3 programs or send them to your iPod.

http://ditc.podomatic.com/

There are also a few cuts of my music there to listen to.
