July & August Report
Dear All,
I was recently blessed by someone from my Faith Academy days who paid my way to visit with my sister, Angela, attend her daughter Ashley's wedding, and attend my 40th high school reunion. Along the way I was able to visit my daughter Cassie and her husband Mike when they drove up to the Leuice's house for the wedding and stayed overnight. I am happy to report that both Mike and Cassie now have jobs and are moving into their own house. Thank you for your prayers. While at Camino with Angela & Steve Leuice I was able to see their whole family who had come for the wedding. I had not met the husbands of Jessica and Kristen so that was a real treat. Kurtis was also there, having worked for a season out of Oahu, and who stayed with us briefly before going back. I was able to speak and sing in Camino Community Church where Steve Leuice pastors and also speak to their Berean class. That class has been using my book "Discernment Toolkit" and I am so happy they have a class that is dedicated to searching the Scriptures regarding issues that impact Christians in the churches. While I was there we had a lot of time to visit and do some other activities. It was a big blessing for me as I needed a break. Juanita was there also.
I then flew on the same day with Angela to Denver then up to Estes Park in CO. The YMCA of the Rockies has an excellent facility there where we had the reunion. There were over 100 people there where the focus was on the first graduating classes of Faith Academy spanning 1965-75. There were a number of staff and teachers there from that time period also and it was a joy to see them again. I was tasked with being the worship leader and also helped drive a 15 passenger van. I gave my testimony one night which the Lord had already prepared people for as the other two main speakers spoke on the topic the Lord had laid on my heart which was that of "forgiveness". Many were touched by the speakers and some issues were brought out and the process of healing begun. It was especially a great time for Angela and I to be together which has not been the case in many years. We renewed friendships and had a wonderful time of fun and fellowship. I am so grateful for many there who were encouraging to me. The organizer of the reunion, Helen, also had the alumni take up an offering for our work. She also just sent out the names and contact information for everyone there so we can keep in touch.
Now I am back in HI and ready to continue the Galatians Bible study I have been teaching. My next study will be a topical one called "A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days" taking on a number of things people believe that are not really in line with what the Bible teaches. Please continue to pray for my possible ministry trip, after the first of the year, to Majuro and possibly Guam. I will be teaching church leadership about what it means to be a good under-shepherd, and will also have an opportunity to present the Gospel to many youth. Also please be in prayer for many Micronesians here in Hawaii who are about to lose their health insurance benefits again. Some may have to return to their islands, some of which are not prepared for the medical conditions they have. For example, many are on dialysis here and would basically be going home to die because there are not enough or, in some cases, any machines available on their islands. I have written to the HI governor, Honolulu mayor and others here but this is one of the cost saving items they are apparently unwilling to negotiate. HI receives federal money to provide health insurance help to free association states in Micronesia. This is an issue that needs immediate prayer.
